Products containing cannabidiol, or CBD, have become wildly popular in recent years. However, many of the purported therapeutic benefits remain unproven. Existing research hints at some benefits, but only time and more research will paint a fuller picture.

CBD, CBD,
a billion-dollar industry

But despite the popularity
could it really be the next big therapy?

CBD, CBD,
what’s it mean to you and me?

Listen up and we’ll tell you why
and how it works on us inside

First off, it’s a cannabinoid,
but what does that mean?

It’s a type of chemical,
kind of like we make in our own bodies

There’s one we make that’s called anandamide
or AEA

It’s a chemical messenger
synthesized postsynaptically

CBD, CBD,
what’s it mean to you and me?

Listen up and we’ll tell you why
and how it works on us inside

CBD boosts anandamide
by inhibiting FAAH

Boost its concentration
so it can bind to
CB-1 and CB-2

CB-1 is in the CNS,
CB-2 in the immune,
and depending on where they go
will determine what they do

Anti-seizure, anti-anxiety, antipsychotic,
Anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-craving

If it really works,
Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Bu for which of these conditions
Is it FDA approved?

For pediatric seizures only.
There’s so much more research left to do

CBD, CBD,
Wild west of homeopathy

But it could change medicine
With a little help from you and me

NIH, CDC,
Scientific community

It’s up to you to show the true
Effects of CBD

CBD, CBD,
What’s it mean to you and me?

It’s up to you to show the true
Effects of CBD

It’s up to you to show the true
Effects of CBD
